About Dre
A Little About Me
Driven by a desire to contribute to the rebuilding and revitalization of his community, Andre transitioned into the construction and steel manufacturing sectors when the 2008 automotive crash hit. Andre embraced the opportunity for reinvention. This shift allowed him to apply his engineering background while exploring a passion for creating tangible, enduring structures and contributing to the infrastructure that forms the backbone of thriving communities.
As a Black professional, Andre is particularly dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion within the construction and manufacturing industries. He recognizes the importance of breaking down barriers and empowering underrepresented individuals to pursue rewarding careers in these fields. Through founding the Boilermakers & Welders Institute and his Greater Memphis community engagement, Andre aims to inspire and uplift future generations of diverse talent, helping to shape a more equitable and vibrant industry.
Flint, Michigan gave Andre a small-town upbringing and a drive to explore. It took him to Bowling Green and Oklahoma where he ran track and trained to be the engineer. Today, Andre is a devoted family man and spends most of his time between Jackson and Memphis TN. He is father to 3 daughters, Jade, Mina and Sommer and husband to wife, Alice James for 28 years. Andre is a board member of the Tennessee Automotive Manufacturers Association and Pathway Lending, member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and a lifetime member of NAACP. As of late, Andre’s made reinvesting in Detroit a priority, providing seed investment for real estate rehabilitation on the East Side where his wife grew up. In his free time, Andre is an avid road biker averaging 100 miles a week and loves spending time with his family, especially outdoor.
